Ask The Vet - Cats
QUESTION: My cat is 16yrs. old and never goes outside, why does it need a
rabies vaccine?
ANSWER: Even though your pet may never go outdoors, there are situations
that can put your pet at risk. If someone were to be bitten by your pet, even if
they were harassing your pet or if a bat were to get in your house and expose
you and your pets, by North Carolina law, your pet would have to be quarantined
from 10 days, to 6 months depending on the circumstances, or it would be
euthanized due to possible exposure. So protect them, get that rabies shot as
needed.
